From Moira Dolan, MD
In this age of managed healthcare and eight-minute medical exams, doctors often neglect giving patients the pros and cons of their recommended treatment and medication. When they do attempt to explain their rationale, they often use medical language which is incomprehensible to the layperson.
My passion is empowering patients to make fully informed decisions about their healthcare through easy-to-understand educational materials on medical issues and pharmaceuticals. We owe it to ourselves to question our healthcare providers on the risks of the treatment and drugs they prescribe before giving our consent. This is known as “Informed Consent” and it is a part of the Code of Medical Ethics.
I welcome you to browse my site to learn more about such issues and subscribe to my blog to stay informed and receive special offers.
